ABOUT US
Lake Las Vegas Dragon Boat Club is a volunteer-run dragon boat club based at Lake Las Vegas in Henderson, Nevada. The Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation and operates exclusively to promote and expand the dragon boat community and to foster national and international dragon boat competitions.
We are committed to uniting a diverse and inclusive community of individuals from all backgrounds and ages. We strive to promote health, resilience, and camaraderie through the dynamic tradition of dragon boating. We create opportunities for training, competition, and celebrating the sport’s rich heritage. With a deep commitment to the cancer community, we provide a supportive space for cancer patients, survivors, and their families, fostering strength, healing, and personal growth. Through our vibrant community, we inspire resilience and empower everyone to thrive.
We launched our "new" dragon boats courtesy of Edmonton Dragon Boat Racing Club on Lake Las Vegas!! On November 24th 2024 "Initiate Day" on the Chinese calendar, we held an Eye Dotting Ceremony to welcome the Dragon Spirit to Lake Las Vegas and remind our paddlers that Dragon Boating is a Chinese cultural event dating back many thousands of years. We took the paddler's oath to show mutual respect for each other and to this sport that gives us so much joy:

The Paddler's Oath :
Play the Game for the Game’s sake;
Be modest in victory and gracious in defeat.
The most important thing in dragon boating is not to win but to take part;
Just as in life; it is not the triumph, but the struggle.
Be true to your fellow paddler.
Paddle not for yourself but for your team.
Work hard. Be strong. Expect no reward and reward will come.
